Atlanta Water Lines

When it comes time to repair your dwellings main water line, we are your best option. We have performed almost 25,000 waterline replacements and repairs in the Atlanta area in the past 20 years. We are Atlanta’s premier experts on the subject, and the only number you should call when the time comes.

Here is why:

Trenchless Technology:
Our waterline plumbers know you care about your yard and landscaping. So, when it comes time to repair your waterline, we use (when possible) a trenchless method of installing your waterline which includes boring through the ground and placing your new waterline in the newly prepared tunnel. Rarely do we actually need to trench your yard, leaving a long, obvious dirt line where we have been. It is sometimes necessary due to certain property limitations and grading, but more often than not, you’ll never even know we were there.

Utilities Marking: We always notify your local utilities authority and have them mark your underground electrical, phone, cable, gas, fiber-optic, or any other county/city-owned lines. Not only does this save both ourselves and the customer headaches of further repairs, it is also the law. We will provide you with ample notice of the city’s progress and also supply you with a locate number if you prefer.
Experience: We have replaced almost 25,000 waterlines in the Atlanta and surrounding areas. At this point, after 20 years of experience, there is little we haven’t seen. Be it residential, commercial, industrial, or even agricultural, or waterline experts can do it all and then some.

Polyethylene: We use only polyethylene piping for our waterline installations. This is due to the materials inherent strength, flexibility, resistance to temperature and pressure, and ease of use. The product is also much less expensive than copper, saving you money. It comes with a 25-year pro-rated warranty, and an additional 1-year warranty from us on parts and labor. We use brass fitting instead of plastic parts like some other companies. We also flush your line before final connection to ensure no dirt or debris has entered the line, causing possible problems in your home.

Pricing: We offer some of, if not THE best rates on waterline replacement. We are able to do this because of our technicians’ high level of skill, allowing him quicker completion times. It is also due to the sheer volume of replacement jobs we are contracted for. With an average of 3-7 everyday, waterline replacement is our main service. We have a stellar reputation for outstanding service and support, along with excellent pricing. Check out all of our satisfied customer reviews on www.kudzu.com.

In order to provide your home with fresh, clean water, a main water service line must exist between your water meter and the home itself. City and county water mains run along all streets and neighborhoods, branching slightly onto residential property, providing the access point for water service lines. At this intersection is your water meter, set down in its own box, typically located near the road or curb and usually covered by a hard plastic or iron cover. From your water meter, your main water service line extends underground all the way through your yard to the foundation of your home, entering the house in a number of ways. Waterlines can be made of several different materials depending on the age of your home and the type of construction. And sooner or later, they all need replaced.

Older homes often had waterlines made of galvanized steel. While strong, years of use would eventually lead to heavy rust formation inside the pipe, narrowing the water’s flow path. Not only does this cause a drop in your water pressure, but it also means that every time you drink your tap water, you are ingesting this rust. Galvanized waterlines eventually bust due to rust buildup, and need replacement.

Some homes were built with PVC waterlines. While PVC is superior in every way to galvanized steel, it is not without its inherent faults. PVC has flexibility, easing the installation process. It is also immune to rust, being a plastic pipe. It is inexpensive, saving the homeowner money. However, it is susceptible to breaks and cracks due to temperature and pressure changes. Extreme cold is PVC’s enemy, and here in Ge orgia it can get cold enough to damage this pipe.

Copper has been used for decades as a waterline piping material. It is strong, resistant to temp and pressure changes, somewhat flexible (in certain formulas), durable, and plentiful. It is not, however, cheap. Copper is a market product, meaning its prices are affected by the economy, similar to silver and gold. This means in January, copper could cost a certain price per foot, and by the end of the year, prices could have doubled or even tripled.  If not installed correctly and skillfully, copper has been known to oxidize. This is a form of corrosion, similar to rust.

Polybutylene is the waterline piping of nightmares. Used in millions of homes nationwide for years, it revealed its weakness approximately 15 years after its inception by breaking, leaking, and splitting in yards, walls, ceilings, etc. Believed to have been attributed to an innate weakness against the natural chlorine content of tap water, polybutylene caused millions upon millions of dollars in damage to homes, resulting in a class-action lawsuit that cost the manufacturing company billions in payouts. It has no positives except that it is flexible and easy to work with. Other than that, if you know this product exists in your home, get rid of it. Now.

The answer to all problems concerning previous waterline materials seems to have come in the form a polyethylene, or PEX piping. A cross-linked poly product, polyethylene seems to be immune to the weaknesses of its predecessors. It expands and contracts with temperature and pressure changes, making it ideal for almost all climates. It is extremely flexible and easy to work with. It is immune to rust problems. It is very inexpensive, cheap to produce, and plentiful. It carries a previously unheard of 25-year pro-rated warranty. It is suitable for hot or cold water, as well as medical uses and industrial applications such as flammable and oil-based products. This is the ONLY product we use for our waterline installations. We are so confident in PEX that we offer an additional 10-year parts and labor warranty on top of the manufacturer’s.
